This is a film from 1995 that was prohibited within all EU. I discovered it one month ago, and I think that it´s a must see.
The story begins in a small planet where people live in peace and harmony with nature and their selves and they decide to send someone to check the Earth. There are many funny stories that will make us think about the crazy world we live in...maybe this is why it was prohibited?

La belle Verte es una película de los años 90 realizada por Coline Serreau ("Tres solteros y un bebé"). Nadie la conoce porque fue prohibida en la Unión Europea, pero gracias al ciber activismo, se ha converido en una película de culto y se puede ver íntegramente on line. Yo la he descubierto hace un mes y se la recomiendo a todo el mundo!
La hisroria comienza en un lejano planeta donde sus habitantes viven en paz y armonía con su entorno. Deciden mandar a alguien de expedición a la Tierra que aterriza en París en los años 90. La peripecias de esta extraterrestre nos muestran de una forma inteligente y divertida las locuras de nuestro planeta: el tener dinero,coches, respirar polución, comer mal, etc...son algunos ejemplos que emplea esta SUBERSIVA película para hacernos reflexionar.

Me encanta el cine y ver pelis, pero desde que vivo en Shanghai es algo que se ha extinguido casi por completo de mi vida :(...a pesar de tener mil tiendas piratas con DVDs a un euro...no le encuentro la gracia a ese sistema.
He visto Medianeras en 3 asaltos diferentes. No se lo merece porque es una peli muy buena. Os la recomiendo, creo que todo el mundo que viva en una gran ciudad se puede sentir identificado con la historia. Trata de la complejidad de nuestras relaciones personales y de nuestras vidas en este un mundo tecnológico del que somos parte. Un "desarrollo tecnológico" que en vez de conectarnos provoca todo lo contrario... Además me encantó la fotografía y la historia que narra. Ojalá pudiera haberla visto en el cine! Great movie ❥
Ayer ví TAMBIÉN LA LLUVIA, de Iciar Bollaín, y me gustó aún más de lo que me imaginaba
La película narra el rodaje de una película en Bolivia sobre el descubrimiento de América por parte de Cristóbal Colón. Paralelamente hay una insurrección del pueblo boliviano contra el gobierno por la decisión de éste de privatizar el suministro del agua para beneficio de una multinacional americana. Esta doble trama, nos hace ver cómo tras 500 años se siguen cometiendo los mismos abusos y atropellos contra la población en indígena en América Latina....me hizo pensar en "Las venas abiertas de América Latina "de Galeano.
El film resulta muy interesante no sólo desde el punto de vista histórico y social, sino también desde el del compromiso personal y colectivo, un tema muy de actualidad y muy necesario ahora mismo. También refleja el valor de la resistencia y de la solidaridad. Definitivamente, una película con muchos mensajes que además, está brillantemente interpretada por todos sus actores (para mí ver a Tosar es siempre un placer!) y está muy bien contada, pues teniendo una trama tan complicada, logra mantener la tensión y la emoción durante toda la peli. ¡Hay que verla :)!

Ayer ví con Andrea ¨Átame¨, la peli de Almodóvar que encontré en un video club en Shanghai. Ya me he declarado anteriormente fan de Almodóvar y aún me siento más identificada con sus pelis viendolas aquí en China. Me encanta esa visión suya tan colorista, dramática, divertida e intensa de mi país. Y ¨Átame¨es un peliculón! Me encantó la escena final cuando cantan Resistiré de El Dúo Dinámico. Esta canción me recuerda mucho a mi mamá que es fan del Dúo y la usó para titular un libro que escribió. Aquí va el vídeo... Que paséis un buen fin de semana!
This is a video from ¨Tie me up tie me down¨ by Almodovar, one of my favourite cinema makers ever! I love watching his movies here in China. I really like his unique vision of spanish culture, so colorful and intense! In the last scene of the movie they sing this song ¨Resistiré¨ (I will resist) that reminds me a lot of my mum, such a big fan of the song and El Duo Dinámico, the band that sings it. I hope you enjoy it!
Ayer, fui con mi amiga rumana Octonelia a ver otra peli al SIFF, Octo lleva 6 años viviendo en Shanghai y ayer fue la primera vez que iba al cine en la ciudad!!!
Este festival está bastantente mal organizado...llego al cine y no hay ni un letrero en ingles, nada que indique que proyectan pelis del festival INTERNACIONAL de cine de Shanghai...le pregunto a la taquillera y me saca una fotocopia en blanco y nego con la programación para ese cine...y sí, estaba la que queria ver : BARTNEY'S VERSION, que nos encantó.
Es una pelicula canadiense basada en un libro del mismo nombre. Narra la vida del protagonista, Bartney (genialmente interpretado por Paul Giamatti, de Entre copas), el film hace una retrospectiva de su vida contando sus idas y venidas, su mediocre carrera, sus fracasos sentimentales...es a ratos una comedia y a ratos, un drama. A mi me encantan las pelis que logran hacerme reir y llorar al mismo tiempo, y con esta hice las dos cosas. Retrata muy bien la complejidad de las relaciones humanas: amistad, amor, celos, inseguridades...
Tambien me ha encantado la interpretacion de Dustin Hoffman, que hace de su padre y te partes de risa con él y el actor secundario Scott Speedman (qué guapo!); la banda sonora es muy buena, y la recreacion de los 70s, genial.
Hacia tiempo que no veia una peli que me conmoviese tanto...recomendable 100%~!
Esta semana se está celebrando el Festival internacional de cine de Shanghai, el SIFF. Sé que tiene delito, pero llevaba sin ir al cine un año...desde el anterior festival de cine!! En Shanghai se pueden ver pelis interesantes en algunos bares y centros culturales o en tu casa...sólo estrenan un número muy reducido de pelis extranjeras al año y estas son siempre blockbusters.
Volviendo al Festival, fuí con mi amigo Ariel a ver There will be Dragons, una peli rodada en inglés pero que transcurre en España durante la guerra civil y relata la vida de Jose María Escrivá Balaguer, el fundador el Opus Dei. Un dramón, no nos convenció. Eso sí, el teatro una maravilla...
Ariel tenía invitaciones para la ceremonia de inauguración del festival. Íbamos de punta en blanco vestidos..tanto que conseguimos colarnos sin ninguna dificultad en el cócktail de recepción que se celebraba en el Museo de Arte Moderno y que quedaba de camino al Gran Teatro...y ahí nos vimos sin esperarlo, rodeados de la créme de la créme del famoseo chino!!pero sin tener ni idea de quienes eran!!

De ahí se llevaron a los famosos a la red carpet, y aunque lo intentamos, no coló colarse, así que fuimos andando hasta el Teatro donde se oficiaba la ceremonia

My friend Aried had two tickets for the Opening Cremony party and we manage to access to the reception party. we had the chance to meet and photograph many chinese celebrites, my colleagues at work inform me about their names because I hardly knew them :P!

Se trata de un proyecto llevado a cabo por Colin Beavan, un escritor que decide probar a vivir un año causando el menor imacto ambiental posible, es decir: no usar transportes motorizados (ni coche, ni avión, ni metro, ni bus...), no comprar nada en un año menos comida (cultivada de forma local), no usar nada desechable que genere basura incluido el papel higiénico, vivir sin tele...y llega hasta el extremo de vivir sin electricidad en los últimos 6 meses del experimento! En su aventura-locura participan tambien su mujer (adicta a las compras y a la tele) y su hija de 2 años. La idea es saber qué es lo que REALMENTE se necesita para tener una vida sana, cómoda y feliz procurando no dañar el planeta. Al cabo de ese año decidirán lo que quieren recuperar de su anterior vida y lo que es completamente superfluo...Lo que descubren con todas estas privaciones es una nueva vida mucho más plena y feliz...Sí, lo pasan mal a veces, sobre todo su mujer, pero descubren otras cosas que no proporciona el dinero ni el consumo y que son mil veces más enriquecedoras.

Habla también de la importancia de actuar de forma individual, de no esperar a que los políticos u otros poderes hagan algo para cambiar la situación actual...si nos preocupa y no nos gusta, algo podemos hacer aunque pensemos que no cambiaremos nada. Es muy muy interesante este artículo suyo, esta en inglés, pero merece mucho la pena leerlo. También os recomiendo que visiteis su blog, espero que os sirva de inspiración!

So many of us have good ideas for helping the world. But we tuck our ideas away. I did. I’d tell myself that if the idea were any good someone else would have already done it. That I’m not capable of making a difference. I’d sit on my ideas, get on with my “life,” and then feel angry at the world because the problems I cared about didn’t get solved.
I had that fear of going first.
Then I took my first hapless step into what I call accidental activism. In 2006, I started a project where I lived as environmentally as possible for a year—with my little family, on the ninth floor of an apartment building in the middle of New York City—to attract attention to the world’s environmental, economic, and quality of life crises.
I had no experience as an activist. Yet suddenly my project caught fire.
My book and film, both titled No Impact Man, ended up being translated into 20-plus languages. Some philanthropists appeared and offered me funding to hire consultants to get NoImpactProject.org off the ground. About 20,000 people have now participated in our educational immersion program, No Impact Week.
And how have I felt through all this?
Like a deer in the headlights.
How am I supposed to stand up to all this? Surely people can see how selfish and shortsighted I am? That I’m sometimes mean to my family? People like me aren’t supposed to do things like this. We’re supposed to wait for people who have their acts together, and follow them.
But if we wait for those people, we’re done for.
There are a lot of people who know way more about activism and citizen engagement than me. I’m pretty ordinary. Frankly, I don’t even always want to be of service. But I’ve now learned a lot about how to be an ordinary person, filled with self-doubt, who still takes the risk of trying to do something about the world. Maybe you’re like me. And maybe the things that have helped me will help you, too.
My first step was just to begin living with the lowest possible environmental impact. A few people said I was “too stupid to know that one person can’t make a difference.” Think on this story (with apologies for high schmaltz quotient):
Two frogs—one very smart and one very stupid—are caught in a bowl of cream. The sides are too steep to climb and they have no foothold to jump. The stupid one begins to swim as hard and fast as he can. The smart one looks over and says to himself, “He’s too stupid to know that all that effort will make no difference.”
Having weighed the hopelessness of the situation, the smart one decides that the most intelligent thing is to give up. So—Blub!—he drowns. The stupid one keeps trying. Just when his legs are about to give out the cream starts to get thicker. His struggling has churned the cream to butter. He’s surprised to find himself on solid ground. He jumps out. By stupidly pursuing the first step (swimming), the second step (jumping out) appeared, as if by magic.
The question is not whether you can make a difference. The question is, do you want to be the person who tries? Do you want to be like the smart frog, who relies on the brain that tells him there is no solution, or the stupid frog, whose heart tells him to try anyway?
Maybe you care about food deserts and kids not having access to good food, or maybe it’s incarceration of local youth, or maybe, like me, you worry about inaction on climate change. Whatever it is, pick up your placard or call your senator or gather your friends. Don’t worry about the second step. Just be too stupid to know the first step won’t work.
Part of the reason one person can make a difference is that one person’s efforts soon inspire other people’s efforts. So inspire other people to get involved by sharing your personal story. Not just the story, say, of the hungry children in the Global South who you are trying to help, but your own story.
In No Impact Man, I share stories of how I tried to keep my food fresh without a refrigerator, how I had to eat mostly cabbage in the winter, and how I washed my laundry by hand. People didn’t suddenly realize that they, too, should hand-wash their clothes. Instead, they learned, not that they should make a difference—which statistics and figures tell us—but that they can make a difference—which personal stories have the power to tell.
It is through the personal that people connect with the political.
No matter what your cause, look for the powerful, personal story about how you got involved and how being involved has improved your life in some way. I’ve heard it said we shouldn’t have to tell these stories—that people should automatically care. The thing is, once they know, people do care. The problem is that they are often overwhelmed by it. So the job is not to shove information at them that makes them feel guilty for not doing something. The job is to give them a story that shows them how to do something.
Back in the ’60s, a string of civil rights sit-ins began when four students from a black college in North Carolina sat down at a whites-only Woolworth lunch counter. In the end, about 70,000 students participated in sit-ins that spread across the state. As Malcolm Gladwell points out in a recent New Yorker article, the action didn’t start with lots of Twitter followers. It started with lots of flesh-and-blood (as opposed to Facebook) friends.
The strong social bonds and long-standing mutual trust gave those first four students the bravery to stand up for themselves. Gladwell says that the strong ties of real friendship and community—not the weak ties of the virtual world—are necessary to make us feel supported enough to take meaningful risks for our values.
I ran a blog at NoImpactMan.com and many thousands of people came there to discuss their views on and methods of environmental living. It was a good thing. In the absence of real-life communities of shared environmental values, the blog provided a lot of people with some measure of community support. But the stronger, more action-oriented communities are formed in my work when people come together for our No Impact Weeks.
One of the most accomplished friendship-based communities I am familiar with, 350.org, the grassroots climate organization, began with a group of students who lived together at college and then in the Bay Area. They have grown their little house party into an international organization of hundreds of thousands of climate activists. They use the Web to aggregate the actions of thousands of friendship-based groups. But the point is the actions taken by small communities of friends or neighbors—not the information sharing.
So use the Internet, of course. But use it to get people to do things in real life. What if the many hours spent leaving angry comments on the Huffington Post were instead spent gathering once a week in a coffee shop. Sooner or later, real action—as opposed to real, um, clicks—might occur. Get people to come together. They need each other.
So you have your idea, you’ve taken your first step, you’ve gathered like-minded people, and now you have a little bit of energy and success. Great news! This is when the critics and second-guessers arrive. That’s a reason for not getting started in the first place, right? Nobody bothers to second-guess you when you’re just fantasizing about your great idea.
I suddenly found myself invited to go on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer. As they say: WTF? I was horrified. I’m sure I had an overinflated sense of my own importance, but I was worried I could send people in the wrong direction.
I had no real endorsement other than—again—my own trust in my intentions. I had to go on national television trusting in myself and my vision.
Absolutely the hardest thing of all was this: I had to accept that I might be wrong and do it anyway.
Sadly, lots of arguments break out in activist communities about best methods. People tear each other apart as though the scenario is either/or when really it’s and/also. We need many shoulders against many doors. What I’ve learned as I’ve come to meet so many amazing engaged citizens is that it takes many different strategies and many different styles to make the changes we’re hoping for.
So trust your vision. You may find that the biggest sacrifice you can make for the world is to face the possibility of being publicly wrong. And to move forward anyway.
Once you get involved in this kind of work, the pressures mount—many of them from within rather than without. We need to take care of both the insides and the outsides. I started by saying you just need to take the first step, but this step is just as important. If you can’t sustain yourself, you can’t sustain your work.
No Impact Man, in many ways, began as an extension of my meditation practice. A lot of the confidence I needed came from inklings of understanding of the Truth—whatever the hell that is. And of Service. But while I was making time for TV appearances and press interviews and rallies and favors and guest appearances on blogs I lost time for my meditation.
Then anxiety arrived. And depression. I was running on fumes. I was draining the battery without charging it. The good news is that I am back to my regular practice. I feel better. Of course, I’m not saying you should necessarily meditate, just that you need to find what suits you to take care of your insides.
About the outsides: A couple of years ago, after so many TV interviews and radio interviews and international press appearances (and, by the way, repeatedly having to face accusers who said I was trying to get rich from the world’s problems), I looked at my bank balance and saw I had about $200 left—about $3,000 less than my monthly nut. I’d been working all my waking hours on what I believed in and couldn’t take care of myself.Luckily for me, I didn’t have to change much (like, I began to ask to get paid when someone asked me to make a speech) but I did have to face my guilt and confront my monkish self-image. There is a meme in our culture: You can be a monk or a merchant. Monks do good and merchants make money. If you make any money—if you find a way to take care of your outsides—you can’t be an ascetic monk, and you’re not really doing good.
Imagine, though, if we create a new meme. What if we show each other how wonderfully well we’re managing as a result of taking our ideas for social change and running with them? What if we bragged about outperforming the bankers every so often?
But even if we don’t get the chance to do that, we should at least make good homes out of our lives. Without loving ourselves, the love for others will wither. By taking the burden of the world on our shoulders, we leave no room for the strength of others. In other words, have fun!
After all, the world isn’t worth saving if there isn’t time for joking around.
Besides, we might as well enjoy ourselves when you realize how much work there is to get done. With two wars in progress, melting ice caps, and an economic system teetering on the brink of collapse, there just isn’t time to wait for some guru or leader to give us permission to act on our good ideas.
Who’s going to fix things if it isn’t us? I can’t help thinking that the time has come for us to take back our culture. It’s time for every citizen with a good idea to get to work, to trust yourself, to start. Sooner or later you have to accept the fact that you need no other authority than your good intentions and your loving heart.

Ayer en el video club hice acopio de pelis españolas para luego pasárselas a Sunny. Me ha encantado hacerme una sesión de cine patrio en el salón de mi casa china...
¡Hoy he ido a ver el musical de Hair en el Globe Theatre en Londres!
Para mí esto es todo un acontecimiento porque soy una fan muy fan de Hair. Descubrí hace años por casa el vinilo que había comprado mi padre cuando vió, en su juventud, la representación en París. Luego he visto la película que hizo Milos Forman en el 79 muchisisissimas veces. Me encantan los hippies, los años 60 y 70, Woodstock, mayo del 68...siempre he deseado haber vivido en aquella época!
Estaba un poco nerviosa por las expectativas que había puesto, y a pesar de que al principio se me hizo un poco raro el cambio de actores, trama, etc...me encantó.
En el musical el argumento y los personajes son bastante distintos con respecto a la peli. Claude Bukowsky, el prota, es en la película es un paleto de la América profunda que llega a NY para alistarse en el ejército, en el músical es un hippy de la comuna. De hecho, el papel de Berger, el hippy prota de la peli es una mezcla de ambos personajes del musical. Sheyla, la pija de la peli, es en el musical una activista revolucionaria que está liada sentimentalmente con Berguer y Claude.
Apenas hay diálogos, de hecho es muy curioso ver cómo han hecho para inventarse una trama en la película basada en el musical, cogiendo todas las canciones y las frases, pero con un resultado completamente distinto...el final también cambia.
En el musical la comuna está siempre presente, cantan una canción detrás de otra, lo que lo hace muy dinámico y emocionante...se lo tienen que pasar pipa los actores!
Me encantó la escenografía y el vestuario...a esto último tenía un poco de miedo porque a veces se puede notar el salto en el tiempo con la ropa, y un vestuario tan especial como el de Hair es difícil de mejorar...pero Londres es la capital del vintage y han hecho un trabajo estupendo...era un despliegue de túnicas, chalecos,flecos, volantes, plumas, pochos, capas, cuentas, colores, disfraces...muy acertado y muy chulo!
La música también genial, la orquesta estaba en el escenario, integrada con la decoración, había piano, teclados, tompretas, batería...y las voces de ellos estupendas, sobretodo las de las chicas negras...impresionantes.
Lo mejor fue, sin duda el final, una vez que saludaron ls actores con la música de Hair, nos hicieron subir al escenario y allí estábamos todos dando saltos y cantando primero Hair y luego Let the Sun Shine In con los actores y la orquesta como una comuna gigantesca...un sueño hecho realidad!! :D

China es el país de las copias y de las baratijas, eso ya se sabe. Pero hay veces que es difícil no sorprenderse con el grado de sofisticación que han alcanzado algunos sectores que viven de esto.
Es el caso de los Video Clubs. Tiendas que casi todas se llaman BIG MOVIE y tienen, según entras, una pequeña selección de películas chinas. Detrás de una estantería, que es una falsa puerta, se abre todo un mundo de piratería digital. A veces hay que pasar por varias salas y pasillos con falsas entanterías para llegar hasta el tesoro.
Pasillos con un montón de pélículas, DVDs musicales y series de televisión...tienen de todo! la mayoría de las pelis son comerciales, pero también encuentras clásicos y cine independiente...cajas de directores: Fellinil, Almodóvar, Jim Jarmusch, Woody Allen...en cuanto a series lo tienen TODO, hasta M*A*S*H* y las Chicas de Oro!
El packaging está muy cuidado, caja de plástico, con caja de cartón, más precinto, dentro el DVD viene en una funda de cartón y está impreso...parece original! y por lo general la calidad es muy buena, además incluyen opcines de audio, extras...y todo por 12RMB! Es increíble que lo puedan vender a ese precio...si no lo vale ni la caja de cartón impresa!!
En España nunca he comprado una peli en el top manta porque me parece que la calidad es malísima y selección que tienen no me va nunca...tampoco me he bajado una peli de internet y muy pocas veces música...no porque esté en contra de la piratería, pero me gustaba ir a la Fnac y pasarme tiempo haciendo mi selección de CDs, o ir a la biblioteca a sacar pelis...eso aquí se ha terminado. Afortunadamente puedo encontrar pelis chulas...pero la verdad es que no me hace tanta ilusión, muchas veces compro compulsivamente y se quedan ahí esperando a que las vea, y luego una vez vistas, ya no les hago más caso...
Es lo que tienen las baratijas y las copias...que lógicamete no tienen el mismo valor...
Acabo de ver la última película de Sam Mendes, "Away we go" .
Sam Mendes, es el director de "American Beauty", y ésta es la siguiente película que ha hecho después de "Revolutionary Road", que me encantó al igual que la que acabo de ver.
El fim es una comedia, pero como en su anterior película, trata sobre una pareja que busca su sitio, un hogar y un proyecto de vida que les haga felices. Las dos películas me encantaron porque me parece un tema muy interesante..creo que hoy en día es tremendamente difícil encontrar eso. Ya lo es hacerlo individulamente, pero en pareja, la situación se complica y Sam Mendes ha sabido reflejarlo de dos maneras muy distintas pero igulamente conmovedoras en sus dos últimas películas.
Si podéis, y os interesa el tema, veros las dos. A ver si os gustan tanto como a mí.
El hombre es un animal de costumbres...dicen que es un mecanismo de supervivencia.
A todo te acostumbras, a las cosas nuevas: nuevas actividades, nuevos olores, nuevas rutinas, nuevas sensaciones...Pero también te acostumbras a no tener lo que antes tenías, veías o hacías...así no lo añoras tanto, y puedes adaptarte a las situaciones y los cambios que se presentan en la vida.
Eso lo estoy experimentando aquí en muchos niveles y facetas distintas...pero ¿qué pasa cuando has dejado de hacer algo que te encantaba y te has acostumbrado, por lo que ya no lo extrañas tanto, y de repente... lo vuelves a hacer? Pues piensas: "¡¿pero cómo puedo yo vivir sin esto?!"
Bueno, pues eso me pasó ayer cuando, por fín, después de 4 meses, fui al cine! casi lloro de la emoción cuando me ví sentada en la butaca con mis palomitas, lista para disfrutar de una peli en versión original subtitulada en inglés y en chino.
Todo gracias al Shanghai International Film Festival, que se celebra esta semana en varias salas y teatros de la ciudad. Si no fuera por él, la programación de los cines es exclusivamente china, y las pocas pelis que llegan de fuera son los blockbusters comerciales de Hollywood que no me van nada.
La organización del festival es bastante caótica, no hay programas, calendarios, escasísima información en inglés...el momento de comprar la entrada fue bastante estresante...es que hay multitudes gritonas y empujonas en todos lados!
Fui a ver una película alemana Maria, ihm schmeckt’s nicht!, la traducción en inglés is Wedding fever in Campobello. Me gustó mucho. Trata de una pareja compuesta por un chico alemán (el prota) y una chica italo-alemana que decide casarse, presionados por el padre italiano de ella, en el pueblo natal del mismo que está en el sur de Italia. Y ahí comienza la aventura...es muy gracioso todo lo que le ocurre al protagonista, que parece un alien en medio de un típico pueblo italiano. Cae de forma deliberada en algunos tópicos y la película es exagerada a posta, pero resulta hilarante. Además te hace comprender lo importante que es la cultura, tu entorno, donde has crecido, y como te condiciona esto a la hora de enfrentarte a lo distinto...y eso que Italia y Alemania están en el mismo continente! yo me sentía un poco identificada precisamente con esa situación, con la dificultad de dejar el sitio donde has crecido y no entender nada de lo que pasa en otras culturas lejanas. Ayer necesitaba reirme y me pegué unas buenas carcajadas como hacía tiempo, es una película muy divertida e ingeniosa. No dejéis de verla si podéis!
Os recomiendo esta canción de Eddie Vedder, de la banda sonora de IN TO THE WILD, una película que me encanta, basada en el libro del mismo nombre también muy emocionante y conmovedor.
