The best season in Shanghai is autum! The summer here is super hot and humind, but from september we have 2 to 3 months that are amazing...and when the sun shines its even better. Today was one of those  beautiful days. I went with Ariel and Ana to have a coffe in a terrace...we don´t know how long the season for terraces will last...

El otoño en Shanghai es una maravilla! La mejor estación de la ciudad. Después de pasar un verano axfisiante, a partir de septiembre el clima se vuelve muy agradable, y dura así hasta finales de noviembre...y luego llega el espantoso invierno. Hoy ha lucido el sol y la temperatura era ideal, quedé con Ariel y Ana para tomar un cafetín en las terrazas de Doghu Lu, hay que aprovechar porque no sabemos cuándo va a terminar la temporada terracera...

Then we went to LOLO LOVES VINTAGE, they were organizing a flea market and it was very fun!

De ahí nos fuimos a LOLO LOVES VINTAGE, mi segunda casa :)! Hoy organizaban un mercadillo en el jardín. Parece ser que alguien ha oído mis plegarias y ahora hay un mercadillo distinto cada fin de semana en la ciudad....happy!

La gente, como siempre, de lo más variopinta y original...

Starting a new project its always a super difficult moment...no matter how excited you feel about it, there is always a lot of hesitation! Most of the time it's because you are thinking about the final result...you want it to look amazing! 

Yesterday Nicole had that problem, she is going to make a big big sofa...for the first time, exciting but so scaring at the beginning!

The only think I could tell her was: START, because beautiful things come along while you are working and working...then you forget about the result and about others opinion...so you start to ENJOY what you are doing...and that is the key: ENJOY and have FUN.... then, the amazing results will just come along :)

In my case, I just started a carpet made of different panels...patchwork and crochet, mis dos amores!

Ayer Nicole estaba a punto de empezar un gran proyecto, un super sofa de tres plazas... está entusiasmada pero también  aterrada con la idea...quiere que quede espectacular...pero, como hacerlo?? Bueno, pues lo primero es empezar...ponerse a hacer cosas sin pensar en el resultado ni en querer agradar a demás...y sólo trabajando y concentrándote en ello, a uno se le olvidan esas cosas y empieza a DISFRUTAR con lo que hace, y cuando lo gozas es cuando te salen cosas bonitas, así de simple...

Yo he empezado a hacer paneles de crochet para unirlos y hacer una alfombra...pero quién sabe en qué se quedara al final...asi es el proceso creativo... muy libre y divertido!

"Remendadora" is the name we give in spanish to the lady that fixes holes in the garments, I don´t know if there is a name for this job in english...

Here in China this kind of jobs consisting in reparing and fixing things to keep on using them are (luckly!) still very important and popular.

There is one remendadora near our office, she has her own office in the middle of the street, is the corner of Yanning Lu with Beijing Lu:

En China, aunque el desarrollo y la cultura del consumir-usar-y-tirar occidental crecen a una velocidad de vértigo, la gran mayoría de la gente sigue siendo pobre, y oficios consistentes en reparar las cosas para poder usarlas una y otra vez son muy importantes. Un ejemplo de esto es el trabajo de remendador, me imagino que habrá montones de ellos, pero hoy quiero hablar de una muy peculiar porque tiene su oficina en medio de la calle. Ella está siempre sentada en la misma esquina, en el cruce de Yanning Lu con Beijing Lu:

Britta es asidua a ella, me dice que es un portento de mujer, que arregla las cosas de tal manera que es imposible distinguir dónde estaba la tara...hoy le ha llevado tres prendas para arreglar...

My colleague Britta told me that she is a genious! That she fixes the holes perfectly...today she brought 3 garments to her...

You have to negociate the price and pay her when you leave the clothes, she will fix them in 4 days...I am so curious to see the result! 

The most funny thing is that she has her business card with her office address...rain or sun, you will find her always here!

El precio se negocia, por las tres prendas 50 RMB, unos 5 euros...el próximo lunes veré los milagrosos resultados. Lo mejor de todo es que esta señora tiene su tarjeta de visita con la dirección de su "oficina". Llueva o haga sol os la encontraréis en su esquinita trabajando!

Primero, iba a ser una alfombra, luego una  bufanda, más trade decidí que haría una capa, y ayer se quedó en chaleco...lo mejor y más divertido ha sido incorporar los flecos!!

I started to crochet thinking to make a rug, then I changed my mind to a scarf, later I switch to a cape, and yesterday I finish this amazing crazy waistcoat! I had a great time adding the fringes...I love it!!

¡Hoy he estado en la tele china! Esta semana me llamaron para invitarme a participar en CULTURE MATTERS, un programa en inglés que pretende ser puente de culturas entre Occidente y China. El que se rodó hoy trataba sobre el vintage, así que me vestí para la ocasión con una falda con apliques de crochet (algunos añadidos por mí) que compre en mi último viaje a Tokio

 Today I went to CSI  studios in Shanghai, I was invated to participate in the program CULTURE MATTERS, this show was about Vintage Fashion...so I dressed up for the event with a vintage skirt that I got in my last trip to Japan with some crochet flower apliques added by me!

El programa fue bastante entretenido, la gente del público participaba mucho y a Oscar y a mí no nos hacían más que preguntar cosas y sacar al plató! Entrevistaron a dos editoras de moda y a dos diseñadoras, amantes del vintage. En China aún se ve como algo raro comprar cosas usadas, no es muy popular y el programa era bastante educativo en este sentido, les explicaba a los chinos por qué es cool comprar vintage...

The show was very fun because the audience participate a lot and the interviews were quite interesting...

I had a difficult moment when they asked me to make an outfit with some garments that a girl from the audience had...I had to improvise something in 3 minutes with no mirror and no many choices...the result was this:

Yo pasé un momento de apuro cuando me pidieron que confeccionara un outfit con unas prendas de segunda mano que había traído una espectadora...no tenía nada que me gustase! me hicieron pasar detrás del plató para cambiarme, sin espejo ni nada....el resultado:

Un look un poco ayi, pero gracioso...no?

At the end we all had so much fun and we met, again, very nice people that live in Shanghai!
